Running the Race
The Christian life is a marathon, not a sprint. The writer of Hebrews pictures us as runners surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses — those who have gone before us and finished well. Their lives cheer us on. But the key to finishing is not willpower. It is focus. We are told to fix our eyes on Jesus — not on the obstacles, not on other runners, not on the distance remaining. Jesus is both the starting point and the finish line of our faith. Perseverance does not mean running without struggle. It means continuing despite it. It means getting up after every fall, pressing forward after every setback, and refusing to quit because the One who called you is faithful to complete what He started. Today, keep running. The race is not over. The finish line is ahead. And Jesus Himself is running with you.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I fix my eyes on You today. When I am weary, strengthen me. When I stumble, lift me. When I want to quit, remind me of the prize ahead. I will run with perseverance the race You have marked out for me. You are my pioneer and perfecter. I will finish well because You are with me. Amen.
Promise
Keep running — fix your eyes on Jesus and He will carry you across the finish line.
