Anchored in Hope

2026-08-08

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain.

Hebrews 6:19 (NIV)

Hope is not wishful thinking. It is a confident assurance rooted in the character of God. The writer of Hebrews paints a vivid picture — our hope is an anchor, firm and secure, reaching into the very presence of God behind the curtain. In ancient times, sailors would send a small boat ahead to anchor in the harbour before the ship arrived. That anchor held firm even when the vessel was still tossed by waves. In the same way, our hope in Christ has already entered heaven on our behalf. No matter how fierce the storm around us, we are tethered to something unshakeable. Today, whatever uncertainty you face, remember that your anchor holds. God's promises do not shift with circumstances. His faithfulness is the bedrock beneath every wave. Let hope steady your heart and lift your eyes beyond the storm to the One who holds you fast.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You are my anchor in every storm. When doubt rises and fear whispers, I choose to fix my eyes on You. Thank You that my hope is not fragile — it is secured by Your faithfulness and sealed by Your sacrifice. Steady my heart today. Help me to trust You even when I cannot see the shore. I rest in the knowledge that You hold me firm. Amen.
