The Shepherd's Voice
2026-08-11
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.”
John 10:27-28 (NIV)
In a world full of competing voices — opinions, expectations, fears, and distractions — how do we discern the voice of our Shepherd? Jesus says His sheep know His voice. This is not about hearing an audible sound; it is about cultivating a relationship so intimate that His guidance becomes unmistakable. The shepherd in ancient Israel did not drive his flock from behind. He walked ahead, calling them by name. They followed because they trusted him — they had experienced his care, his protection, his provision. In the same way, Jesus goes before us. He does not ask us to walk blindly; He invites us to follow a voice we have come to trust. Today, quiet the noise. Open His Word. Sit in His presence. The more time you spend with the Shepherd, the more clearly you will recognise His voice above all others.
Prayer
Good Shepherd, thank You for knowing me by name. In the noise of this world, help me to tune my ears to Your voice alone. Give me the discernment to distinguish Your leading from every counterfeit. I choose to follow You today — not out of obligation, but out of trust. Lead me beside still waters and restore my soul. In Jesus' name, Amen.
