A Heart of Gratitude
2026-08-15
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV)
Gratitude is not a feeling that comes naturally in hardship — it is a discipline that transforms our perspective. Paul does not say give thanks for all circumstances, but in all circumstances. There is a difference. Gratitude shifts our focus from what is lacking to what is present. It reminds us that even in the valley, God is providing. Even in the waiting, He is working. Even in the silence, He is near. When we choose thankfulness, we disarm anxiety. We loosen the grip of comparison. We open our eyes to the countless mercies that surround us daily — breath, grace, provision, love. Today, pause and count your blessings. Not because life is perfect, but because God is faithful. A grateful heart is a powerful witness to a watching world.
Prayer
Father, forgive me for the times I have focused on what I lack rather than what You have given. Cultivate in me a heart of gratitude — one that sees Your hand in every season. Thank You for Your faithfulness, Your provision, and Your presence. Help me to give thanks not because everything is easy, but because You are good. In Jesus' name, Amen.
